ABOUT KATIA

Katia Faroun is a Pittsburgh-based photojournalist. Driven by a deep sense of wonder and curiosity, she uses photography, videography and writing as tools to tell the stories of the people she meets and the places she wanders. Through her storytelling, she aims to uplift the voices of the unheard and move individuals to action — to listen, empathize and love.

Katia's work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Pennsylvania Student Keystone Media Awards, the American Scholastic Press Association and the Women's Press Club of Pittsburgh. Some of her projects include Off the Bluff Magazine: Pandemic Pittsburgh, Inside Story: Tales of American Incarceration and The Duquesne Duke's Minority-Owned Business Series and Faces of Homelessness Series.
